beyond zero emission

In a world, where too much CO2 is contributing for global warming and environmental change, the concept of Mercedes Oxygene is tackling that problem. Inspired by nature, the car is able to generate energy from the sunlight through  a technology called technical photosynthesis. At the same time it’s absorbing the CO2 and transforms it into O2 – Oxygen!

About the concept

Filtering air

The main idea is to have an infrastructure of sustainable energy resources. The technical photosynthesis could generate electricity stationary. This energy will be used to charge the battery of the vehicle.

Due to the weight of the technical photosynthesis modules, the car is using this technology to an amount of 25%. The rest of the power comes from the sustainable battery.

Like from a plant, the concept car is able to transform CO2 into O2 towards the back.

My Bachelor Thesis tackled the topic of environmental awareness. I remember back then in 2014, climate change was a topic – but not yet in big public discussions like we have it in 2021.

Being aware of our responsibility and our carbon footprint is is one of the first steps, if we want to shape a bright and healthy future. Big thanks to the Design Team, who made it possible for me to do my Bachelor Thesis.
