Creation of an icon
Conceptualizing was a big part in the Design process. It was an inspiring collaboration with a skilled team, amongst them the Artist Krista Kim and Creative Director and Architect/Artist Benny Or. The object I am designing should be a kind of futuristic and clean spaceship traveling through the metaverse – something never seen before. Since it is such a unique brief and encapsuling a totally new medium within a virtual world, I thought about creating a shape that reminds us of something mystical which resembles eternity.
This is how I came up with the idea of a black hole in space. For the design I envisioned the circular shape in the middle together with the smooth transitions towards an outer orbit. So the 0RB was born!
The challenge for the Orb System was to push for perfection in the volumes and proportions, since the object is an iconic shape, which you would easy remember, when you would just see it for 2 seconds flying by.

Interior design
The base mode of the interior is like a living room or a huge lounge. The outside area works as a circular seating lounge, inviting you to join the experience.
Why a circle? Because it’s a shape that mathematically has an infinite number of points. This is how eternity is resembled by the round treatment in my design. Having that strong iconic ring in the middle creates a center of interest. The shape of the floor is bending upwards coming towards the middle of the platform. Radial shutlines don’t just emphasize the direction where the eye travels, but also have functional aspects. The platform technically could seperate into eight equal sized platforms floating to the outside, to create space between each other in different possible scenarions of the 0RB System.
In the middle is Mercury highly reflective center, letting space for contemplation while connection the ring sculpture in the middle.
